Luís Barragán
Director of Music
Luís started music studies when he was six and graduated from music conservatory in Madrid, Spain, where he completed the 10-year merit program in nine years, and finishes his Bachelor of Arts at UNC-W this semester.
He has performed at popular Jazz venue Doc’s Lab in San Francisco, Steinway Hall in New York City, and Wilson Center in Wilmington. At UNC-W’s Music department, he is studying piano with Dr. Elizabeth Loparits, and has had the honor to work with amazing musicians in New York, California, and Spain.
At UNC-W, Luis has performed on recitals by piano students, several Department of Music Honors Recitals, was three-times awarded the College of Arts and Sciences Dean’s Award for receiving top score in Honors Recital auditions. His very first award at UNC-W was the Mary Eunice Troy Scholarship.
Luis's calling is to join a wide diversity of folks that come together in community to anchor higher ideals. He looks forward to offering my gifts in collaboration, to see the unfolding process of students, colleagues, musical collaborators and audience as one entity.
